Agriculture

Issues of interest to today's farmers and ranchers.

Adding Value
This 30-minute program explores the ingenuity and creativity of farm families across North Dakota as they find new ways to increase their income through on-farm processing endeavors that use existing agriculture products.
Bonanza Farms
Don't confuse these farms with the TV show starring Lorne Greene or the restaurant with the buffet. Bonanza Farms were giant farms that sprung up throughout the Red River Valley over a century ago and shaped the course of change in the northern plains.
The Changing Face of Agriculture
Agriculture has always been changing, but recently it had been buffeted by world markets, federal farm policy, increased costs, and the weather -- wiping out profits for many farmers and ranchers. In response, they've begun to take some bold steps to keep ahead of the wave of change.
The Farmer's Wife
Darrell and Juanita Buschkoetter struggled to save their family farm and were nearly overwhelmed. By facing the challenges head-on and seeking help, they are symbolic of so many other families facing an economic crisis that threatens to overwhelm them. This companion site provides links to resources that can help farm families find their way out of crisis, and tells the story of other families fighting to keep their dream alive.
Nature in the Balance: CO2 Sequestration
Focuses on the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory's (NETL's) seven Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnerships and describes their role in assessing opportunities for reducing CO2 emissions worldwide to reduce the risk of global warming.

Ranching Perspectives
Ranching requires a mixture of financial sense, marketing savvy, sheer physical strength, and a touch of animal psychology. Prairie Public Television's Ranching Perspectives gives us all a glimpse at the lives of the original rural business person.
Prospering
Just as our ancestors who settled the prairie needed to change and adapt to American life and farming, so do today's farmers. We want similar things. We want to feed our families and have a nice place to raise our kids, and we love the land. Take a new look at yourself and your property -- look beyond the ordinary and find ways to not only survive, but to prosper.
Winnipeg in Bloom
With little more than 100 frost-free days, and from clay-laden soils, the passionate gardeners of Winnipeg grow outstanding gardens. Shot in high definition television, this Prairie Public Television and George Siamandas production presents Winnipg gardens at their best.
